The Age of Renewal: Harnessing Devon Sunshine to Power Label Manufacturing at Bluepoint

The Age of Renewal

Well, renewable energy – Solar arrives at Bluepoint

We’re excited to share that Bluepoint has taken a major step toward reducing our environmental impact — solar panels are now being installed across the roof of our Totnes factory.

Over the next two weeks, the new system will be fully installed and is expected to generate up to 37kW of renewable energy, directly powering the production of our industrial labels and tags.

Reducing Emissions and Energy Use

Label manufacturing is surprisingly energy intensive. It involves complex machinery, compressed air systems, and precise environmental controls — all of which consume significant amounts of electricity.

That’s why energy consumption has been a key focus of our sustainability efforts. Once up and running, our solar panels will help reduce our CO₂ emissions by over 7 tonnes per year.

We’ve also invested in energy-efficient machinery and upgraded the entire factory to low-energy LED lighting, further cutting our power usage.

A Win for the Planet — and for Our Customers

This shift to renewable energy means our products are now even more environmentally friendly. But it also makes our manufacturing process more resilient to global energy price hikes — helping us keep our pricing competitive for customers across horticulture, chemicals, steel, and timber.

Whether you're buying self-tie labels, self-adhesive labels, or specialist chemical tags, you can now do so with the added confidence that your supply chain is becoming just that little bit greener!
