Many of the event wristbands that are seen today are commonly known as “paper wristbands”, but in fact, they tend to be made from tough synthetic and composite materials – in reality, paper tends to tear too easily, and isn’t water resistant in its raw form.
Tyvek® Wristbands
The most common material used today is spun-bonded HDPE, with one of the most common brands being Tyvek® by DuPont™ - if you’ve ever sourced wristbands before, you’ve probably heard of them! Tyvek® is a tough, long-lasting synthetic material known to excel at outdoor, multiple day events. It’s waterproof, tear proof and offers the ultimate in terms of durability. HDPE is a common form of plastic, and can be recycled in the correct waste stream – always check with your local authority for guidance in your area!
Recyclaband™
Here at Bluepoint, we also supply Recyclaband™, a sustainably-sourced, eco-friendly, paper-based alternative to synthetic wristbands – and it is kerbside recyclable along with regular household paper waste (under EN 643 once the glassine liner is removed). What makes Recyclaband™ special is a thin layer of engineered film laminated between the paper layers, giving Recyclaband™ its tear-proof and water-resistant properties. Whilst ultimately not quite as durable as a fully-synthetic, spun bonded HDPE, Recyclaband™ is perfectly suited for single day indoor and outdoor events where organisers are looking for an eco-friendly product that can easily be kerbside recycled along with household paper-waste.

What Security Features Are Available?
One area of focus that’s important when choosing an event wristband is security, and at Bluepoint, we have a range of security features to ensure peace of mind.
The most notable feature is the tamper evident seal. The self-adhesive part of the wristband has a bespoke security cut, meaning that if somebody attempts to remove the wristband and transfer to somebody else, the wristband is effectively destroyed. Alongside the tamper evident seal is a printed sequential number, meaning that each wristband can be traceable too!
Counterfeit wristbands are increasingly becoming an issue at prestigious events, and we have seen evidence that the criminally minded are attempting to reproduce entry control wristbands to sell for illegal and commercial gain. As such, we’ve introduced some enhanced security features that ensure that our wristbands are near-on impossible to copy. Bluepoint’s event and security wristbands are available with a customisable holographic foil as well as an invisible UV ink which can only be seen when using a UV blacklight as part of entry control management.
